THE SPONSOR A CHILD PROGRAM: Boxford Elementary SchoolsEach year during the holiday season, the Sponsor a Child program involves Boxford elementary students and their families in providing needed clothing, as well as toys and games to homeless and underprivileged children in the nearby Salisbury community. The program is now in its 17th year. The Santa’s Helper program in Salisbury identifies these children, through the schools and provides us with their information. During the month of November, each classroom in grades K-6 are assigned one of these children to sponsor. In addition to their name, grade and age, we are also provided with a specific wish list that includes needed clothing as well as toys, games and personal items that they would like to have. Students and their families have a choice of either choosing an item from the wish list to purchase or sending in a monetary donation. Volunteers oversee the collection of items as well as the wrapping and delivery to Salisbury.
This program is a wonderful way for parents to be involved with their children and others in a community service activity. Key Benefits
