FALLing Into Crafts
Grades 1& 2
Fee: $75
Work with Julie Garrett Doherty, a Boxford Resident and artisan, to create a special project to bring home each week. Week one: a framed watercolor. Week two: a stone tic-tac-toe game. Week three: birch tree acrylic painting. Week four: Halloween characters. All material provided. Artists should pack an oversized shirt to wear to protect their clothing.

Wonderful World of Weaving
Grades K-2
Fee: $75
Learn how to use a rigid heddle loom to create your own beautiful bag. Design fabric from repurposed materials such as plastic bags, table cloths, ropes, yarns, ribbons, and strips of fabric. All materials will be provided, but participants are invited to bring along any materials they would like to incorporate into their creation. The fabric you create will be transformed into a reusable bag that looks like a piece of art! Instructor: Zwitsa Kachinski, local artisan and master teacher.

Taste Buds Kitchen

Beep, beep! Join us for a culinary road trip across America. Get ready to taste our way through our country’s regional flavors as we head on this sweet and savory chef’s adventure. Make cinnamon raisin bagels from New York City, BBQ cauliflower wings from Kansas City, California pita pizzas from SoCal and bald eagle cupcakes from D.C. Chess Club at Spofford
Grades K-6

Chess is a fun and strategic game that helps children to improve their decision making, strategic thinking, analytical skills and more. Classes will consist of 30-40 minutes of instruction with 20-30 minutes of supervised playtime. This class is geared towards children who already have a grasp on the fundamentals of the game. Participants will learn intermediate to advanced tactics and strategies, as well as the importance of openings, middle-games, endgames, and tournament play. Classes will be focused on

Jedi Engineering w/ LEGO®

The Force Awakens in this engineering course for young Jedi! Explore engineering principles as we construct the Ewok Village on Endor, fly through space on our X-Wings, and defend the Echo Base on Hoth. Create motorized and architectural projects with imagination and engineering to defeat the Empire! Taught by Aaron Newman.

GET OUTSIDE AND EXPLORE
Grades K-2

Autumn is a time of intense insect activity. Butterflies and moths are going through various stages of metamorphosis, dragonflies are eating the remaining mosquitoes, and smaller beetles and ground insects are making final preparations for winter. Each week we get to know a specific group of bugs a little better by using nets and boxes to capture them, and through games and activities. As always, we will also allow time for open exploration in the woods and fields around the school. Programs will occur outside in all but the worst weather. Please dress your child appropriately. Beginner's Sewing
Grades 1 & 2
Fee $110
Never tried sewing, but always wanted to? Here is your chance! Participants will learn about: patterns, sewing on a machine, and sewing by hand. Each child will be challenged according to their individual ability. Within the class we are always creating new projects, so previous sewers are welcome. Each week students will make something new to take home! Taught by artisan and Boxford resident, Rebecca Kelly.
