About

Our mission is to reduce and prevent at-risk behavior and to strengthen the social and emotional well-being of Tri-Town youth.

We collaborate with parents, schools, youth, law enforcement, community organizations and area resources to identify needs and provide proactive solutions which support and empower youth to make healthy and safe decisions. Through our student workshops, adult education programs, after-school enrichment and sponsored programs, we reach thousands of students, parents & educators each year.

Lavish Praise Undermines Motivation

All praise is not created equal. Lavishing praise, however well-intended, for innate qualities (such attractiveness or intelligence) versus for deeds or effort, is not healthy. Instead of overdoing the automatic, “good job”, parents and teachers can offer specific feedback that speaks to what makes it a “good job”. Read full article by Stephanie Meegan

Tri-Town Youth Risk Behavior Survey Results & Adult Perception Survey

The Youth Risk Behavior Survey (YRBS) monitors priority health risk behaviors that contribute to the leading causes of death, disability and social problems among youth. The 2010 YRBS was conducted at Masconomet Regional High School and Middle School in November 2010. This survey was adapted from MA Department of Public Health and Centers for Disease Control surveys.

In May 2011, Tri-Town parents, educators, and concerned adults were asked to participate in a survey about alcohol and drug use among local youth. The Tri-Town Youth Substance Abuse Prevention Coalition requested this feedback so adults had the opportunity to share their perceptions.

The results of these surveys open doors for further discussion and challenge our thinking about what is normative behavior in our community. Augmenting information from other sources we continue to create a “data collage” that will guide our collaborative efforts to enhance the safety and well-being of all Tri-Town youth.
