This July, Tri-Town Council was thrilled to host Camp Invention at Proctor School in Topsfield—and what a week it was! With 73 curious and creative participants, along with our incredible middle school Leaders-in-Training and high school Student Leaders, the energy was nonstop from start to finish.
Campers spent the week exploring STEM concepts, flexing their imaginations, and diving into hands-on projects that were equal parts wild, messy, and inspiring. From designing working claw machines and control panels that sent Morse code, to building optical illusions and engineering penguin launches (yes, really!), the creativity was off the charts.
The magic behind the scenes? Our incredible Horizons Coordinator, Brooke Drozdowicz, led the charge with her signature mix of organization and enthusiasm. The campers were guided by a dream team of educators: Julia Hurton, Ysabelle Errico, Katie DeFrank, and Julie O’Connell—teachers from Beverly, Ipswich, and Topsfield who brought the classrooms to life. And leading our Student Leaders and LITs with incredible care and mentorship was Sarah Green, who helped shape an experience as meaningful for our teen leaders as it was for our youngest inventors.
Camp Invention wasn't just about cool builds and science fun—it was a space for collaboration, confidence, leadership, and good old-fashioned messy fun. Kids challenged themselves, worked together, solved problems, and laughed a lot.
We’re so proud to have hosted such a vibrant and inspiring week, and so grateful to everyone who made it possible. If you see kids communicating through Morse Code see penguins flying through the air—yep, that's us.
Until next summer… keep imagining, keep tinkering, and keep dreaming big!
